Who is this course for
Road-workers, who are required to assist the SLG cardholder during the implementation of Traffic Management Plans/Layouts in both rural and urban situations. A Health and Safety at Roadworks cardholder must be present on site when working on a road. This training is mandatory under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006, and will be enforced from July 2009.
PLEASE NOTE: Signing Lighting and Guarding (SLG) cardholders are not compelled to attend this course.
Course Aim
This programme is aimed at all those responsible for the planning, designing, implementation and maintenance of safe systems of work for all construction work on roads, including clients, designers, contractors, employees, the Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP) and the Project Supervisor for the construction stage (PSCS).
Course Objectives
On completion of this course the learners will:
• Understand the hazards & risks associated with working at or near road works
• Be aware of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006
• Be aware of the need for creating dangers for all road users
• Be aware of the Employers & Employees Duties under current health & safety legislation
Course Requirements
• All trainees have to have a valid Irish Safe Pass.
• All trainees have to have an Irish or UK PPS number.
• All trainees have to have 2 passport photos
• All trainees have to be able to read, write and understand English on their own. • If not then a SOLAS approved interpreter needs to be provided on-site for all training. Interpreter needs to be approved in advance of the course.
NOTE: SOLAS rules require 7 full days notice of our intention to run a course.
