Health & Safety Officer – Cork

Ayrton Group are seeking an intermediate level Health and Safety Officer for a short term Summer contract with our client, a construction contracting group.

This role would involve attending to several sites in the Cork region weekly across pharmaceutical, commercial, and residential construction.

This is a short term requirement of 2 months, covering June and July, with the potential for contract extension on to other projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting regular site audits/inspections to ensure health and safety compliance to Company and Client procedures/rules.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.).
  • Assist in the management of subcontractors.
  • Assist in the initiation and organization of health and safety training of employees and executives.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
  • Maintain incident reporting and near misses and follow up actions, identifying root causes and implementing changes to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
  • Reviewing the SWP’s (Safe Work Plans) for the tasks on site.
  • Carrying out Inductions and Toolbox talks as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in Health and Safety required.
  • Hold a recognised Diploma in Health and Safety.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling required.
  • Experience on Construction and Pharmaceutical projects required.
  • Full driver’s license required.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
